Re. Fire & Ice
Fire and ice never works. I understand your sentiments, felt them on many occasions myself. Hope 'see you later' means you're taking a breather and will surely grace us with your beautiful spirit and amazing poetry sooner than later. Stay well Chi! xo

I'd love to go to Iceland one day -
read Auden

once and always meant

Then make your dream come true ...
Iceland's worthwhile a trip or two (or three).

I like this and I find it funny. I hope it's supposed to be funny? I took it as a commentary on the very popular (and kitschy) "sword and sorcery" genre. I guess it is actually about Iceland? Or that, among other things?

Glad you like it and no, it wasn't really supposed to be funny. But I appreciate a good laugh too :-).
Yes, it is about a trip to Iceland.

Poetry sometimes admits to multiple interpretations. I will continue to enjoy my misconstruction that you were mocking "Lord of the Rings" or some similar epic. ;-)

Poetry should leave room for personal interpretations :-). That's absolutely desirable. Wouldn't it be boring otherwise? But I would NEVER ever mock "Lord of the Rings"! Luckily Iceland has nothing in common with Mordor :-). If you referred to Modor? Interpretations ...

Enjoy your odyssey in the land of fire and ice. I'm sure the vistas will provide plenty of inspiration for future haiku

I spent a too-brief time in Reykjavik many years ago. Didn't get a chance to adventure to the falls and geysers or explore more than a bit of the city, which is a big reason to make my way back someday.
