Last Testament

Lost and alone, unlovely and unloved,
I am forced to accept the brutal truth,
Bitter though it may be in one so proud,
I must at last give up my thoughts of youth.
What woman could e'er love this broken man,
An empty husk of total impotence,
For I know my dreams were an illusion,
And there is no point to my existence.
At the corner of the street now I stand
And shout, but no one hears. In my decline
My sad life is running away like sand
While younger men seize the prize that was mine.
Someone put me out of my misery,
End my life and finally set me free.
