Son Just Listen
Son just listen, we have been put in a tough position
Just because we have produced too much melanin to miss it
When they tell you to stop, make sure you comply
I know they are the cops, but sometimes they will deny
Deny you your rights given to you at birth
inalienable rights that I thought we were all worth
But it's tragic and sad to say that I think we were wrong
This streak of sensless murder has gone on too long
You see they lost their lives for reasons which we don't understand
Bad policing is in high supply , but within zero demand
See you must remember that the officers are human too
Most are good, some are bad and make it hard for us to live through
Their job is supposed to be to serve and protect
but lately it seems that they only neglect
Neglect the code that they were given from the start
To witness these acts repeated seems they don't have a heart
Another brother slain, what did they have to gain
I know that they will say fear was in their brain
Even through it all, I'm still trying to have empathy
to see both sides through was has been given to me
The bottom line is that, it must come to an end!!
You can look to me for guidance, on me you can depend
As dangerous as each breathe may seem, there is still hope
Maintain your optimism every day to help you cope
Keep sowing good seeds and all will be well
You will reap your harvest, yes you will prevail
That's all you can really do, is live for the present
Don't worry about the past, make life on Earth your heaven
