A life’s Guarantee

It’s an unfortunate fact of life
And life’s only one guarantee
That our life will eventually end
Everyone and everything dies
You would think, by now
We would have learned to accept
And be able to make peace with that
But still we scramble around
Inventing religions to try to adjust
The inevitability of death
To prolong or extend life
To offer an eternal existence
A salvation leading to an afterlife
All religions have got one
Like an insurance policy
An insurance against dying
We really all need to grow up
Stop acting like frightened children
Death is as natural as life
Death is just the end of living
It is nothing to fear
It is nothing to rejoice in
Death just is;
For all of us, without exception
It is the end of everything
And the beginning of absolutely nothing
