THE VALLEY

(a pantoum)

Above horizon line, with moon displayed
Deep valley ridged to single mountain’s peak
I wandered forth with senses full arrayed
To fully know the dewy vales I seek

Deep valley ridged to single mountain’s peak
With scents of earth and bloom intoxicate
To fully know the dewy vales I seek
And linger there where warm springs congregate

With scents of earth and bloom intoxicate
I deeply drink of verdant pools’ combine
And linger there where warm springs congregate
A clearing found that sacred space define

I deeply drink of verdant pool’s combine
Such flavor there as holy mount ascend
A clearing found that sacred space define
My circled path that holds this journey’s end

Such flavor there as holy mount ascend
Revealing rigid height, the tallest tree
My circled path that holds this journey’s end
That buried wood in valley’s misted lee

Revealing rigid height, the tallest tree
With coming rains that gush from ridge and bough
That buried wood in valley’s misted lee
To know the grace of flowing life’s endow

With coming rains that gush from ridge and bough
Above horizon line, with moon displayed
To know the grace of flowing life’s endow
I wandered forth with senses full arrayed
