alter: standby love
when the airlock depressurised
the scent of sickness engulfed me
nova was home
i knew she'd come back
curled up naked
toying with her essence
regurgitated on the floor
lush addiction was sickening
it always led to something primitive
but not tonight
the mercury teardrop
streaming down her tattooed cheek
spoke to me: kinetic-telepathy
or perhaps
it was the cyanide
leaching from her perfumed skin
she said: we can't play make believe anymore
her voice resonated in my skull
yet her lips had not mouthed a single word
i traced her everlasting breath
watched the silver thread of light
fade in her eyes
and in that moment
nova was gone
but this time she wasn't coming back
her memory
erased from the cloud
her body
an empty cocoon pulsating arctic-blue light
a vacancy sign to a blank space
for another alter to fill
