Sleepless Sanity
Torn to shreds, mind, body and soul
Once a Phoenix, I'm no longer rising
So ruined by you, I no longer feel whole
No longer do I have faith in surviving
Sleep has become impossible to obtain
Like trying to touch the horizon
Exhaustion is gnawing at my brain
Sucking out my soul like a syphon
If I give in, close my eyes, stop fighting
All I see is a re-run of my torturers
Death is what you are prescribing
Forcing me to live amongst my monsters
Days merge into nights, nights into days
Time seeming to never move forward
Stuck in a perpetual, purple haze
Begging for my mind to be transported
Wanting to give in, just end it all
Stopping me, is who'd be left behind
Eyelids getting heavy, another close call
I'm much to afraid of my unconscious mind

Feeling tattered and beyond repair is a terrible feeling. But a Phoenix never truly dies. You may be going up in flames but be strong and rise from the ashes. You've an amazingly strong spirit and an incredible voice. Reach out to those who are beside you when you need to. This may not be a pretty write, but it's a strong one. Very nicely done ☺

Thank you Timid. You are right, a Phoenix ALWAYS rises from its ashes and I plan to continue doing the same no matter how many times I burn. Meeting you and being a part of dup has been a much needed reprieve from the intense loneliness I feel. Thank you for your honest, kind words. This is truly a place for like minded people to feel safe to explore their inner demons.

I'm so glad I was able to show you you're not alone in your battle. Thank YOU for reading and taking the time to connect with the piece. The thoughts are sometimes so loud and forceful, it feels like I don't know what peaceful feels like. We're all in this together though, I'm here for you if you ever need to talk :)

Wow, this is the first poem I've read since joining today and it hit right at home. My mind is a madhouse which sometimes I feel I have no control over. Writing is the only thing that ever freed me from it all.

Thank you Jessie :) I write also to free the bottleneck of thoughts that bounce around the walls of my mind. Sometimes I just write whatever dribbles out, just to feel the pressure release, sometimes it's drivel, sometimes it's perfect, either way it's out! I'm so glad to hear that this reached out to you, I don't just write for myself, if anything I write to let others know "I get it, come talk about it, explore it, together"
