REGENESIS
From the time before we ate flesh
When we ate seeds and fruit with seeds
From the time when lizards still walked on two feet
Before the great cold forced them to crawl on their bellies
We cared for the trees and grew them tall
And slumbered by the restful smoke of that aromatic resin
This was all God asked of us
To love without fear
For good is good and repetition of evil can not take us there
To the moon mountain that fed the Nile
By the tree of life east of Eden
When we ate seeds and fruit with seeds
From the time when lizards still walked on two feet
Before the great cold forced them to crawl on their bellies
We cared for the trees and grew them tall
And slumbered by the restful smoke of that aromatic resin
This was all God asked of us
To love without fear
For good is good and repetition of evil can not take us there
To the moon mountain that fed the Nile
By the tree of life east of Eden

Re. REGENESIS
As one with everything
in Love and Harmony.
Perfect, Whale.
I believe we all return to Eden
through compassion and enlightenment
And verses like this are markers
that remind us along the way.

'To love without fear'...the purpose we have forgotten...
'For good is good and repetition of evil cannot take us there'...will they ever realize this?

The basis of all religion (putting all man made chaos aside as 'wag the dog') is love to all.
Stated perfectly..;re-genesis' another great title with double meaning Whale :)

Re. REGENESIS
The first thing that popped in my head after reading the first two lines was, whale has gone paleo...
From the chaos came creation. Interesting that you've weaved the dinosaurs into your version of Genesis, perhaps you're suggesting the melding of science and religion could be the key to saving the planet; the rebirth of the caretaker.
[I read recently that if a child is left to their own devices, absent of the teachings of God and science, that they will create their own story of creation.]
After traveling my own continent, I realised the aborigines had perfected their system of sustainable living and caring for the land that they were attuned and belonged... then white man came and fucked everything up. I think I prefer their nomadic ways and their stories of destruction and creation, better than the developing world's ways of destruction and consumption.
Perhaps what we need is a balance of both destruction and creation, darkness and light, good and evil, yin and yang, because without one, can the other truly exist?
Great poem and beautifully written, whale. There is always so much beneath the layers, you always invite me to think, rethink and ramble on.

Hey my brother - yes these creation stories are in our hands and can only be understood as we see them - thanks for these cool thoughts
