Chain
*Fondling an idea,
a dream,
a memory.
Something from a youthful past,
a chain of gold with a broken clasp.
I found it on the sidewalk
with a locket on a loop.
Remembering one holiday
took my favorite thoughts so far away-
to a greenish-golden summer dawn,
on a beach where a turquoise ocean cried
for the warmth of bodies running in
swimming to the other side...
of life...
for just a fragile moment.
No one ever told me
that I could not know this place again.
Moonlight...
beautifully more open.
The dreams of all would hold me
until, all my dreams were spent.
Seeing in a broader view,
how naive such souls must be.
How sweet it is to have lived one time
where the world was wonderful and bright.
*I returned the chain from where it must have fallen
for the next set of eyes to decide what to remember.
