The End
Early May and the sun fills the room with light,
the room where I wrote the first poem,
for you and I’m reminded of how I put you in my heart,
wrapped myself in you;
and now,
the waterfall of memoirs unrolls at me again,
the course of our journeys here,
here where we finally part.
I still remember when I met you,
you sweetly questioned if I lacked anything,
just so you could fill any void.
If I could shut the gate against my thoughts and keep out the sorrow from this memories I still have of you;
oh,
how free,
how clear,
how clean my soul would be.
Having reservations about my lucidity lately;
but, worry not,
this is it.
This is the final Goodbye letter.
This is my final attempt at saying
“I know there is no chance of an us;
I know we’re done,
and I am finally going to walk away”.
I have been wounded by the love I have for you far too long now;
I shall but rest my bones upon these grave I’ve dug for so long.
Let the memories leak out of your eyes on this peaceful lunar eclipse night as you listen to Birdy’s Shine;
and be reminded of how we danced and sung together and yet we still let each other be alone. I'll see you on your wedding day; you'll say nothing to me nor I to you, but I'll know you're happy.
Allow me to say this,
one last time;
Goodbye
