50 Shades of Colorless Red
You are not you anymore now that you've lost yourself
Traded happiness for the pleasure of someone else
You can't talk on the phone, communications shut down
No one can see you, touch or feel you, no one's allowed
Now you can no longer stand on your own two feet
Because all your steps are tied to that useless deadbeat
I can still hear you say that it won't be that way
How he loves you and it's just a game that you play
Why am I not surprised you succumbed to lay down?
A silent bait worm to be trampled upon
Held in a can, not in a lover's warm arms
Feeding fishes swimming in his saliva barms
Your mind's been conditioned to be his submissive
Washed of the person who once knew how to live
From the girl he promised he would always protect
You've become the object he smothers with disrespect
You were warned you would lose the woman you were
And now that she's gone her dreams are a drug induced blur
I would do anything if I could go back in time
I would cut off his heads and die for my crime
Anything's worth murdering the monster who mastered you
Before he tore out your loving heart and broke you in two
Filling your head with 50 shades of colorless red
The shell he cracked open drips with the ashes you've bled
Traded happiness for the pleasure of someone else
You can't talk on the phone, communications shut down
No one can see you, touch or feel you, no one's allowed
Now you can no longer stand on your own two feet
Because all your steps are tied to that useless deadbeat
I can still hear you say that it won't be that way

Devistating and stark, a cold reality for many who bought the glamorized 50 Shades that are just a fantasy for those who are lucky.

Yet she remains with him...the real question is why ? I assume fear probably, and maybe cowardice, is a well written piece but I gotta say I found it annoyed me to...kinda a "I told you so" thing going on
But it does stir up emotions very well :)

Re: Re. 50 Shades of Colorless Red
You are right. There is an "I told ya so" aspect, but not so much aimed at her, aimed at those thinking about following in her footsteps. She will never see it, won't be allowed to see it and may end up dead without so much as seeing a computer or cell phone. So my real purpose was not to address he, it is for those who think it will be fun, and then it won't be fun, just like for somebody that I used to know. So maybe someone will read this and the "I told ya so" will sink in ahead of time when it can make a difference. She was told by everyone but she was convinced she wanted that lifestyle.
Every woman I have ever talked to that left said it was as much a struggle within as it was to actually physically get out. One woman told me she was kept physically chained to a wall in the basement when her "owner" left the house.
She escaped because he got drunk and fell asleep on the floor after having sex with her. She got the keys out of his pocket with her toes and got out before he woke up. She was lucky she still wanted to get away.
So if my "I told ya so" attitude annoys you, good. Because I want it to annoy everyone who might be thinking of becoming someone else's slave. It's only voluntary until the shackles click...

I am from Scotland a country that celebrates the enslavement of women - I was brought up in that generation and not much has changed :-(
and then along comes 'fifty shades of gray' (shit) that wants us to believe that a woman be emancipated whilst being a submissive to any man - it disgusts me :-)

David, my original title for the first draft of this poem was "at last I understand and it disgusts me".
I changed the title because as much as I have learned, I really do not understand. I think I know why, but really, I know nothing. I just express what I feel because my heart tells me to and my heart feels disgust for the actions of men who do not respect women as equals and who think they must control others to be whole. but control over others can never give one control over their self...

I've seen it happen to many a good woman who fails to understand
the relationship between a dom and sub is one filled with love and respect.

Thank you for commenting Ahavati! Or a man who is a control freak or criminal fails to understand the relationship between two human beings in a nation that has a Constitution guaranteeing equal rights to all citizens. Slavery ended here over 125 years ago. Domestic violence is a crime. There is no contract that a person can sign that is more binding than the Constitution of the United States of America when on American soil. If a Dom/sub relationship takes away human rights it is inhumane and should not be legal anywhere in the universe. If I were God, I would make it so today, not just in the afterlife. It's a good thing for everyone that I am not God!
This *End of Days" thing would be a thing of the past!

But it's the woman who chooses to stay out of misunderstanding that type of relationship dynamic. (I work with a domestic violence shelter - I see it often.) Assholes, on the other hand, are assholes, period. There's no changing them (in my opinion). A dom/sub relationship is a beautiful thing if both understand the inner workings of it. But when a woman lays herself down as a doormat because she thinks she loves a man, she doesn't realize she actually hates herself. A true dom/sub relationship violates no human rights - it's a beautiful consent between two individuals.

No woman can ever know what is in the mind of any man. Instinctively, men want to Dominate, not just women, but everyone around them. Men will be violent. A Dom/sub relationship is a dangerous situation to get in to. Men rarely show their true colors until they feel they have control. Then it's too late.

Thank you G!
Funny thing is, I thought you already did too. Well, I just know how men think. Guys look for submissive women because it's like a drug addict stumbling on a bag of cocaine somebody tossed out their car window so they wouldn't get busted. And when a control freak can't get off on ordinary capitulation, he needs more to satisfy his need. It escalates and then resistance must be stamped out. It continues to extreme violence and making her submit to other men. There is no love so there is no jealousy. It's all about making her submit to his will. Not every man is an addict for control, just like not every beer drinker is an alcoholic, but how do you know before they take their first drink? And how can you tell the experienced ones from those trying to manipulate the circumstances until he has you in his basement chained to the wall? It was all fun and games at first, until it wasn't...
It's an emotional subject for me because I know a few women who went through some very horrible experiences and were lucky to get out. There is no way to know who is good and who is bad and unfortunately, too many women think that bad boys are what they want, not realizing that too many of the bad boys are much worse than the bad they are imagining. This isn't 1944 Nazi Germany, but you only need to look at the sex slave trade all over the world to realize that for every girl sold into slavery, there is a man who sees her as property to be done with whatever he pleases.
We still don't have a female President because men refuse to see women as equals. This is why Hillary Clinton must be our next President. The glass must be shattered because you can't clean the dirtiness of prejudice!
The only way to erase expectations is to prove their is another way...

I won't get into the BDSM, to each it's own, it's just not my thing. I will say this, it's hard for a woman to know what love looks like, if she's never seen it, because Love truly has an identity. In my opinion, it will look like faith, smell like respect, taste like compassion, feel like hope and sound like angels-rejoicing.

Tara, every word you express has meaning that transcends the scope of ropes that tie into or around the sound of angels rejoicing!
Thank you for all you give in every word you make live!!!

this makes my heart bleed. it is abuse, nothing more, nothing less.
the isolation, the shame, the fear, the excuses. it's symbiotic with abusers & their victims.
a harrowing read

Men, and I say that as one, are not to be trusted when making promises or signing contracts. They do however, expect absolute loyalty from "their" women. Not as humans, but as possessions...
At least in my opinion...
