Picking sides
Come away from there
Dance in the rain
With puddles singing around you
let the skies wash the old you away
and replace it
with a thing brimming
with the joy behind every smile ever conceived
Filled with the love between the old lovers well practised shy glances
Come away from there
That shadowy corner you've comforted so long, it shuns the sun
There is no light you can bring there
that will last longer than the length of lonely tears
Stand here
With me
Be no longer
the puddle waiting for the sun
become the rain that falls for pure joy
with faith that one day it will fall again
Become the music of the downpour
Instead of its echoes amongst the alleys
One is an emptiness
never quite filled
the other, the thing of life itself
Child, come away from there
Either jump in the puddles
or stand in the rain
it's past the time to do both
