A Single Rose Bush

 I flattened the mound
patted it down flat
I had planted a single rose bush
in the centre of your grave
as a symbol of our love
our love was a special
kinda love
I am heart broken
and miss you so much
not sure what to do
with myself
anymore
we were always an item
stepping out together
walking the dog
or driving to the beach
we were inseparable
two peas in a pod
and so much in love
I miss the fun we used to have
I miss the sex, of coarse
I miss everything
about you
I still haven't been
able to cry
or find the words
to explain my grief
I feel guilty now
for things unsaid
and the things
we said to each other
on your last day on earth
I wish I'd told you
I love you
wish I hadn't
hit you so hard
I didn't mean to
kill you
I hope the dog
doesn't dig up
your bones
from underneath
the single rose bush
