vivid memories
I heard he’d died
in a drunken street brawl
fell and hit his head
recorded: accidental death
my mind rewound to the 7 years
of life we’d once shared
flickers of a colourful past:
darkest heart blacks, cruellest greens,
raging reds, raw wound pinks,
broken bone whites and bruises that came
in every colour of the rainbow
I felt remorse for him
but my eyes
remembered my oath
and refused to shed
even a solitary tear
in a drunken street brawl
fell and hit his head
recorded: accidental death
my mind rewound to the 7 years
of life we’d once shared
flickers of a colourful past:
darkest heart blacks, cruellest greens,
raging reds, raw wound pinks,
broken bone whites and bruises that came
in every colour of the rainbow
I felt remorse for him
but my eyes
remembered my oath
and refused to shed
even a solitary tear
