LADY HUMANITY (ODE TO A NUDE STATUE)
Some people may admire, others may curse:
She is a "Birth of Venus in reverse",
Looking about to jump back in the sea
From which she came, still a naked beauty,
Long of hair, firm of body, trim of limb -
Ready to plunge in the surf for a swim.
The town war memorial (unveiled 1923) which overlooks the sea at Aberystwyth, Wales, is unusual in featuring not only a robed winged female figure of Peace but also, at its foot, a vigorous naked female figure which is locally explained to represent "Humanity released from War".

I like to visit that town at least. once a year as I live far inland and it's nearest coastline to my home. Admit she is a main draw, as well as the seashore (for which, BTW, you look aptly dressed, Ursula Andress like, in your latest profile pic). The sculptor was an Italian, doubt if many British sculptors would have been as daring!
