I Miss You

I slipped in-between the gaps of you and I, all those years ago.
Sometimes, to this day, I close my eyes only to realize how I miss you so.
I Miss You.
I miss you, and it's not in the sense that I want you, or us back, but that I miss the view of looking up at the person who stood next to me for so much time
-only to now look, and re-realize what "was", and what "isn't" anymore.
In due time we've both moved on, or tried. Now different gaps are filled with the fingers of other lover's laced with our own
- I just have to say there are days.
There are hours.
There are moments that bring fragments of us to breach the surface.
It's on those days, like today, that bring me to this moment of missing you, and missing what once was.
I hope you are well.
I hope the lover(s) you chose, hold you close, and choose you.  
I hope that they do not slip through the gaps, as I once did.
I hope that you have learned from the reasons with the seasons that have followed, as I have, and try to still.
I hope that sometimes, on late night drives, you look to the passenger seat only realize that you miss me too
-but only in moments.
Only in those breaching fragments of us that flicker to the surface,
do I hope you recall what was.
I hope that what "is" proves to be much more fulfilling.
My departure was my cross to carry, but the burden weighs heavier with the thought that it also fell onto your shoulders as well.
I hope the load has subsided, and that only a handful of "Polaroid memories" and "lessens learned" remain!
I miss you,
like a missing limb with a phantom itch.
-but more than that, I hope you are well.  
I wish for Happy Endings for the both of us,
but only time will tell.
