The Pull of Tomorrow

I stood alone
staring upward into the
blackness of night
and the millions
of stars looking down at me
I felt a wrench within my soul
calling attention
the absolute fact that I was dead
dead, but seeing my future
and hers
reincarnation wasn't just a
figure of my imagination
no . . . as I stood there
I felt a severe tug
within me
it told me I was being reborn
I saw her face
it told me she was waiting for me
