You Linger Here

I don't know how to erase your scent from my head
Or the sound you made as we achieved unity
Together our eyes fixed all we could see in the darkness
Flickering sparkles reflected in our eyes from the candle
Over the apple vanilla wax melting around its bouncing flame
Drowning itself just enough to cool and rekindle in rhythm
Synced perfectly with our breathing in poetic meter
I recall every line of sensual rhyme that spilled from your tongue
That I would recite with you now if only you could be with me
But now the flame is still like your heartbeat I can't silence
As it echoes in my memory when my head lay on your breast
Soothing me to sleep when last you held me in your arms
I would sell my soul to hear your pulse pounding for me
Just like your cold memory that keeps haunting me
From thousands of miles your silence shatters my ears
Deafening my senses to all outside my heartbroken mind
The candle has nearly burned down to the wax covered glass
When finally the flame dies so will the memory of your sparkling eyes
