Arc of Ankh
Life is such a blur,
It just happens.
Sometimes I don’t even realize
That I’m living.
Its as if playing
A very real video game
Like The Sims,
With most of the wackiness involved.
One day you’re awesome,
You just got laid,
She seems really into you,
You got a promotion at work,
Life is good.
But then it gets bad.
Really bad.
Like you break
Both wrists at the same time.
That kind of bad.
Like the girl you fancy
Doesn’t seem to like you.
Not anymore anyways.
And work?
You can’t stand being there
For more than ten minutes.
Life is like trig,
It is a sinusoid function
And you are the point
On the curve
Propagating through space.
Sometimes its up,
Sometimes its down,
And sometimes,
It gets quite repetitive
But the best part about it
Are the unknown variables.
You just got married?
So the amplitude increases.
You just got diagnosed
With bipolar disorder?
Frequency just shot up.
How about that sex change?
Phase shift, 90° to the left.
Or maybe you just quit your job
And found a new one.
A lot is done differently there,
You integrate,
To change
Into a cosines.
You may be a bit negative
At first,
But its not so bad
After a few periods.
But what happens at the end,
The limit, if you will.
In math, the function is bound
By time, usually.
We, however, are bound by
Our mortality.
And one day
The sinusoid will
Succumb to damping,
Eventually flat lining,
And becoming linear.
But the line continues
Past the bounds of space
To infinity,
Past the bounds of time
And beyond…
(P.S. I would like to thank Buzz Lightyear for the clutch hook)
