Vivid, detailed echos
Nostalgic call and response
Casts a grin from ear to ear, as I once did

A woman exists who has won my heart
These feelings are unreciprocated.
Trudging along through dates
Leads to more rejection and ghosting
Soul crushing blows
One after another
Loneliness settles in
Do I give up or persevere?
Feelings of apathy
Begin washing over my being
Sequentially, like the ocean waves
Breaking on the shoreline of my mind
Everyone is worthy of love

Water cascades over my skin,
The warmth is familiar and comforting
My eyes blurred
Saturated by the flow
I try to think back,
A time you still desired me.
I cannot discern where the droplets end,
And my tears begin
Just as I cannot determine
When our estrangement first occurred
The pitter-patter of the water
Gives me much needed solace
My mind drifts swiftly,
