I should have died.
In the wreck that nearly took my life.
Still I wonder why I'm alive.
Sometimes I wish I would have died.
That wreck changed my life.

this is a really powerful piece. The repetition works very well to impart the life changing nature of the event, how everything stops in a moment of trauma.
And yes, you are most certainly alive for a reason, you're writing, you're processing, you're bringing art and beauty to the world and I know that without knowing anything else about you!
