The Power
So much power is behind your eyes
You can build or destroy whole civilizations with a glance
If only given the chance
Your opportunity presents itself and you pause
You pause for so long that you become as stoic as stone
A little remembrance of a man who held all the power
A statue in the center of life that we all strive to touch and taste and be
So perfect and lasting forevermore
A life without him would be no life at all
Yet he sits in waiting
Never moving from his perch
Always thinking and making decisions for us all
Choosing to love or to hate with passion
Such devotion though to all you feel
You grant promotions and demote the hungry
Those who feed themselves will survive
Those who starve for existence will fall forever
Falling from your grace and leaving room for the bloated in your cacoon
Only I can starve you
Only I can move you
Only I can bring you to life
Only I can make you die
Always and never
Together forever
You can build or destroy whole civilizations with a glance
If only given the chance
Your opportunity presents itself and you pause
You pause for so long that you become as stoic as stone
A little remembrance of a man who held all the power
A statue in the center of life that we all strive to touch and taste and be
So perfect and lasting forevermore
A life without him would be no life at all
Yet he sits in waiting
Never moving from his perch
Always thinking and making decisions for us all
Choosing to love or to hate with passion
Such devotion though to all you feel
You grant promotions and demote the hungry
Those who feed themselves will survive
Those who starve for existence will fall forever
Falling from your grace and leaving room for the bloated in your cacoon
Only I can starve you
Only I can move you
Only I can bring you to life
Only I can make you die
Always and never
Together forever
