Ignorant people
People complain about the gov't taking away their guns.
The federal gov't has already given up the "guns" that really matter,
Namely, the warheads on the missiles aboard our boomer subs.
We've gone from 39 boomer subs under Reagan
down to just 12 such subs today.
Think of it, that's a whopping 2/3 reduction
Now THAT is something worth worrying about!
But the NRA and the gun toting crowd are oblivious.
ALL they're concerned about is keeping their assault rifles,
They're not the least bit alarmed as our nuclear arsenal steadily shrinks,
Talk about being "penny wise and dollar foolish" !!
It's our NUKES that keep the Russians at bay.
Once we cut back on our Nukes til the Kremlin is no longer afraid of them -
Because we have so few of them,
Russia will hit them plus bomb our cities.
(Without America retaliating, for we'll have nothing left.)
What good will all our assault rifles, hand guns, etc do - at that point?
What good will it do us to have all the firearms in the world,
If we give up our priceless NUKES, like we are doing,
Until finally our big cities and ports get swiped off the face of the Earth ??!!

Lots I could say about this poem. I just hope we have a smarter military, one that understands that the biggest threats of today require different strategies and capabilities then fighting with another nation. It goes without saying that it would be beneficial to have leaders who have a excellent grasp of history, including how the U.S. has covertly been involved in toppling democratically elected leaders, and providing aid to characters like Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein.
thanks for your thoughtful input. I doubt that our military is very smart. i mean, look at john McCain.Senator, he is. He gives interviews. But do you hear him even once, just one time, ever say things like, "the Kremlin hasn't changed. They ended the Cold War just to get us to disarm. And once we disarm far enuff, Russia might bomb us." No, McCain is afraid of the backlash those words would bring.
About our aiding unsavory characters, yes, I've read about that stuff.We've made many mistakes, but what can be worse than the one we're making right now - giving up our NUKE arsenal ??!! It just goes to show that INTELLIGENT people can also be stupid.

Thanks for your input. Yes, it is a responsibility, a big one. it's too bad that people don't devote time to the study of military matters. And the ones that do study that stuff are too afraid to speak out (about America becoming WEAKER) - for fear of being called "alarmists" !!
