What Insomnia feels like to me.
What insomnia feels like to me:
It’s in everything I do,
The quick breaths that I take,
The moment I speak,
In every tick of the clock,
It’s a suffocating feeling.
My crushed chest, body aching,
The walls are closing in and world spinning,
Mind reeling, spiraling downwards,
Yet, I’m the only one who sees it,
The only one who knows,
It’s happening.
The windows are closing,
A scratching, an itching,
My throat is constricting,
I am unable to move,
I can’t close my eyes,
I’m afraid of seeing nothing.
Finally, it’s just a dull,
Aching, numbing feeling,
My tears have dried up,
This darkness has overlapped,
The battle has been won,
Yet here I am,
Fighting a losing war.
It’s in everything I do,
The quick breaths that I take,
The moment I speak,
In every tick of the clock,
It’s a suffocating feeling.
My crushed chest, body aching,
The walls are closing in and world spinning,
Mind reeling, spiraling downwards,
Yet, I’m the only one who sees it,
The only one who knows,
It’s happening.
The windows are closing,
A scratching, an itching,
My throat is constricting,
I am unable to move,
I can’t close my eyes,
I’m afraid of seeing nothing.
Finally, it’s just a dull,
Aching, numbing feeling,
My tears have dried up,
This darkness has overlapped,
The battle has been won,
Yet here I am,
Fighting a losing war.
