The Soil he tries to tend
His sleeves run red with his heart
pumping
pushing
Trying to keep his false smile
from cracking
Closing his eyes
the sweet memories pass
a slideshow
torturous
Each happy memory
one cut among many
Alone
perpetually
Searching for someone else who's heart
resembled his
Each day
a new fresh reminder
Each night
as empty as the last
Hopeful
woeful
Carrying on almost as if in spite
His dreams a sweet respite
they take him away from the darkness of the day
but they too, never last
How long before the nothingness overtakes?
Before the light dies completely?
Leaving nothing but a shell
a broken flower pot
Where nothing grows anymore
pumping
pushing
Trying to keep his false smile
from cracking
Closing his eyes
the sweet memories pass
a slideshow
torturous
Each happy memory
one cut among many
Alone
perpetually
Searching for someone else who's heart
resembled his
Each day
a new fresh reminder
Each night
as empty as the last
Hopeful
woeful
Carrying on almost as if in spite
His dreams a sweet respite
they take him away from the darkness of the day
but they too, never last
How long before the nothingness overtakes?
Before the light dies completely?
Leaving nothing but a shell
a broken flower pot
Where nothing grows anymore
