The Man In the Hourglass

It was not my intention
Not my Idea of a perfect relationship
The perfect man
My perfect match
But all in all
this is what I choose
And if I could do it over
I would chose him
All over again
The world sees him
Differently then I
I see a man
With a heart of gold
A man sorry he made choices
That keeps him from
His loved ones
Mom
Children
Keeps him from me
His mistakes
although
He was young
Just trying to come up
Just to have some fun
They were to much
For society to ignore
So they locked him away
Threw him in cell for 23 hours a day like living in an hourglass
As time falls away
they dont see a man
They see a monster
They dont see a father
They dont see a son
They dont see my husband
They see his past
His youth full of mistakes
He is the man
The man staring back at me
through The glass
As we symbolically hold hands
Touching the glass
Whispering I love you
Through those phones
The gaurds dont care
As they stand and stare
Not realizing
How hard it is to leave
When our time is up
They dont know
How the isin i feel
leaving him
And driving away
Its killing me
All I want is to
Touch him
Kiss him
Hug him and never let go
I cant wait for the day
He doesnt have to stay
Locked and chaind away
Bringing him home
Is all I want
Why cant they see
How painful this is not only for him
But for me
His crime not for killing
He didnt rape anyone
No crimes against any women
None against children
But he recieves more time
Then a convicted child abuser?
What kind of bull is this?
Enough of my ranting
Enough if my grief
Because at the end of the day
Hes still in prison
Still stuck in that hourglass
No matter the time
However long the wait
Till that last drop of sand
When that glass shall break
I will be waiting
with arms open wide
Until then I sit alone
Watching each grain of sand
Fall in this Hourglass
The place I call home.
Awaiting the day
My heart is on his way home
