Glan Conwy Wales ( edited 2016 )
I looked across the fishy sea
looking west the glancing light
reflecting on the waves.
gentle on the beach
washed and undisturbed
before my trespass was complete.
I kept above the water-line
a shame to spoil the sand
arranged and ordered by the sea.
The estuary wide and flat
the castle ruins so ugly
the white washed walls
long since washed away,
to some thought beautiful. . . .
nostalgia being what it is.
The train, a creeping caterpillar
eating up the track
at forty miles an hour
whistling echoes to the hills.
Tal y Bont and Llanrwst
handsome arches, swans,
narrow streets and square,
blinking lights to keep us safe
red and green and yellow.
