Heaven's Dearest Star
Lost garden tell me true
What thorn pierced my fingers through
To leave so alluring a righteous scar
When Heaven lost her dearest star?
With the flame that closed my eyes
Where a dream in blindness lies;
Where the faceless friends I once knew
Tell me the sky has lost her blue
Where the bluebird with broken wings
The void of a tremor sings.
Ah in the pall of that wanted sleep
The shades in minstrelsy weep
The eyes that bleed over a broken land
While the thorns yet pierce my hand
And the clouds that roar on high
Obscure the bosom of the sky
Where perhaps the gods align
And another star may shine
Whose beam sets the dreamers free
With lullabies that grace silently
The bird who regains song and flight
And binds lost souls to the light.
What thorn pierced my fingers through
To leave so alluring a righteous scar
When Heaven lost her dearest star?
With the flame that closed my eyes
Where a dream in blindness lies;
Where the faceless friends I once knew
Tell me the sky has lost her blue
Where the bluebird with broken wings
The void of a tremor sings.
Ah in the pall of that wanted sleep
The shades in minstrelsy weep
The eyes that bleed over a broken land
While the thorns yet pierce my hand
And the clouds that roar on high
Obscure the bosom of the sky
Where perhaps the gods align
And another star may shine
Whose beam sets the dreamers free
With lullabies that grace silently
The bird who regains song and flight
And binds lost souls to the light.
