Old Bold & Cold
I don’t want to be out in the cold
To be weak, to be old
Once bold
A risk taker
Decision maker
I ran with the strong
Put right the wrong
Proud to fight for what’s right
I refuse to cry
No tears stain my eye
I’ll die
My own way
Choose the day
Rather alone
Than a nursing home
Being abused, used
As apolitical pawn
Or worse
Being sneered at
By some so-called nurse
So I’ll pick my last dawn
But only when I’m ready
‘Til then I’ll hold steady
Kick as much arse as I can
I may be old
But I’m still a man
Some thoughts on the eve of my 74th birthday I'll revise it every ten years or so! ;-)
