Breath
You sense his every breath. Each exhalation
Is vaguely aromatic and confounds
Your body, even as his heart compounds
Your own beat, in the muted implication
That, given further touches, excitation
Will overflow, until that sense surrounds
Your every instinct; and the loving sounds,
That fill the air, will mean his dedication
Has achieved all your aims and both your ends
Are wrapped against him in a tight embrace,
That you would not unlock until, un-tense
From your exhaustive coming, it commends
You to him, as there’s nothing left to chase,
Save remnants of the breath you love to sense.
