"Why Do You Call Me 'Good'? [The Human Being ISN'T Good.] Nobody Is Good, Except God"(Mark 10.18)
"The rich young ruler" called Jesus "good master,"
(Matthew 19.16;Mark 10.17;Luke 18.18),
It happened as the Cross was getting much too close.
So Christ had to respond to the pressure(terror).
He did it by becoming increasingly HUMBLE, submissive -
Self-effacing, "Not MY will but Thine be done"(Matthew 26.39-42).
He had to be on guard against His OWN human ego,
Which resisted going to the Cross, as evidenced by those pleading words,
"[Please, please, PLEASE], let this cup pass from Me,"(Mt 26.39).
So when Christ said, "There is none good except God"(Matthew 19.17;Mark 10.18;Luke 18.19)
He was stressing, "I [the human being] can do nothing by myself"( John 5.19,30; 8.28),
I am nothing - no good - outside of My oneness with the Father !!
I am NO GOOD except for my obedience to the Father's Will.
He wasn't saying, "I am God," like idiot preachers always claim.
Instead, He was "denying Himself," just like He told us to do.
"He who desires to come after Me, let deny himself [as I have done]"
(Matthew 16.24; Mark 8.34;Luke 9.23).
