you appear to me
(a gen-x sonnet)
I close my eyes and you appear to me
a pale rising moon in desert night
the autumn sun found kissing evening sea
that single flower blooming in last light
as empty arms will reach to pull you back
in empty rooms once filled with brilliant songs
and empty swimming words that filling lack
with empty heart where growing love belongs
but arms remain unfilled in dreaming bed
in deadly silence filling darkened rooms
and drowning words that stick in dreamer’s head
with love far gone to earth where nothing blooms
I wonder if my face still finds your dreams
as yours does mine and ever will it seems
I close my eyes and you appear to me
a pale rising moon in desert night
the autumn sun found kissing evening sea
that single flower blooming in last light
as empty arms will reach to pull you back
in empty rooms once filled with brilliant songs
and empty swimming words that filling lack
with empty heart where growing love belongs
but arms remain unfilled in dreaming bed
in deadly silence filling darkened rooms
and drowning words that stick in dreamer’s head
with love far gone to earth where nothing blooms
I wonder if my face still finds your dreams
as yours does mine and ever will it seems
