The Ties that Blind

Can I tell you how I fell from glory
trying to free my mind?
My reasons are another story,
closely intertwined.

When I lost my self among the ruin
in a city draped in rust.
When I found myself so out of tune,
I knelt in ash and dust.

It rained on my face.
It soaked through my skin.
I'm ashamed and disgraced.
Death upon me, but life within.

Enslaved, I found myself a subject
of a will that was my own.
I bound myself, an object
cast before an empty throne.

And I tore myself an open mind,
restrained by jagged wire.
The ties that bind, the ones that blind
will be consumed by fire.

With our without me,
though one will remain to save...

No, I won't let it hold me down.
No, I won't let you hold me down.

No, I won't let you hold me down.
I will be unbound.
