Pins and Needles

If I had the world in my pocket
I’d have a lot of pins and needles
Stuck in my leg
Because to me, that’s what the world has become
a pin cushion, where everyone sticks
their views and opinions about what’s best for them.
and if I could hold the world in my hand
and see the big picture of what the world is
then would anyone even listen?
I’ve been pondering a lot recently
how big of a difference one person can be
and the answer is.. no one person can
change the world single handedly
and you may argue the fact that money is power
and power makes change
but technically without other’s standing by you,
you can’t control anything.
One person can influence
and one person can start an effect
but with out followers or partners
how far can you get?
people need people
and as much as someone tries to fight that fact
whats the bigger picture if there is not benefit?
and we can all have different motives for creating
a better world
and whether its power or money or religion or notoriety
none of it matters without unity
Has anything positively significant been accomplished solely?

Now has truly inspiring as that is
unfortunately in this world there is this thing called sin
that mocks everything unity stands for
and its outcome is never pure
It lurks in the hearts of individuals
and it wants nothing more than to see
us divided into broken communities
because in numbers comes power
and when we stand together
thats how we make change for the better
but a lot more commonly, with sin...
one choice between right and wrong
forgiving and revenge
sin has a tendency to win
because its a lot easier
to break someone
than taking the time to heal as one
and quickly that one bitter child
grows up and thinks he deserves the right
to do the same as his father has done.
and she finds less guilt to cheat rather than to leave
because what he doesn’t know can’t hurt
until his 4 year old blurts out that daddy #2 is kind of a jerk.
So I think we get the point
I don’t think it takes a genius to see
that sin breaks relationships that breaks unity
and its takes a lot more people to do one good thing
but it only takes one man to cause chaos and calamity
and 90% of this world wants to see
depression defeated
and justice run free
sicknesses healed
and poverty eliminated
hope for the future
and peace for the nations
but that 10% holds us back
they deceived us into thinking
our individual choices won’t effect
those around us
that choosing to leave a relationship in pieces
with no closure and split commitment
is a whole lot better then working through it
and mending anything left untreated.
but what could we change
if we all held our own
we all decided to put in a little more time
to trying to fix all that has been left broke
it could work, you know.
ever hear the phrase,
‘you reap what you sow”?
well what if we all plant seeds of healing
and we see the sick rise up
from the graves they were digging
or what if we all plant seeds of giving
and we saw the poor have a chance to start living
and what if we plant seeds of forgiveness
and we saw the regret fall off the backs
of the parents that maybe couldn’t or didn’t do their best
we have the power to have the world in our hands
to start pulling out the pins of hate
and the needles of shame
to look at the big picture of unity
where around the world we are holding hands
because one person bent over to reach for a lost man
and that lost man reunited with his son
who then was able to let go of resentment
and forgive his wife
and it starts a chain of hope
the hope that people need
to see how much of a change one person can be.
