Song on Evening Vapors
(a gen-x sonnet)
In rosy light of coming sunset's blush,
As storm splashed lane reflects its wet caress,
As thirsty hills consume day's ending rush,
I hear a song that will my soul possess.
Her tune like softest kisses shuts my eyes,
In glowing remnant of life's full spent day.
Like wings of birds in violet, moon bathed skies,
Engulfing rhyme wash anguish thoughts away.
Her song on evening vapors fills my heart,
With words as soft as finger's tender stroke,
Notes warm as glances held at passion's start,
It moves like true love's dance under night's cloak.
Anointing with her mouth's haunting refrain,
Absolving hymn brings peace with twilight rain.
In rosy light of coming sunset's blush,

As thirsty hills consume day's ending rush,
I hear a song that will my soul possess.
