Color Me...
What's in my purse?
just stuff...
mainly makeup
mostly lies
They tell you it's "okay" to be broken
but they leave out the part
no one wants to caress sharp edges
so I smooth them
with fabricated feelings
Lining the sparkle back into my eyes
concealing the sleepless nights
adding the rosy blush of a giggle
glossing a smile over my lips
Covering the battered veneer of an ugly truth
and the best laid schemes of mice and men
just stuff...
mainly makeup
mostly lies
They tell you it's "okay" to be broken
but they leave out the part
no one wants to caress sharp edges
so I smooth them
with fabricated feelings
Lining the sparkle back into my eyes
concealing the sleepless nights
adding the rosy blush of a giggle
glossing a smile over my lips
Covering the battered veneer of an ugly truth

Even a chameleon can't hide from itself... very well expressed inner conflict and pain!

It is a sad thing to feel that we have to hide how we feel and what we are. I would not consider you broken; I would consider you to be wiser. Having lived gives us better insight. The experience makes us more valuable. You my love are not broken; you are value added. Life's experiences gives us the knowledge to sense hurt and pain in others and it teaches compassion. It allows us to feel empathy; allows us to love those that others do not think are deserving. I loved the write.
Very thought provoking and that is
why I am rambling on.

....the shades of a woman's pain. You can wash the color off but the ugly ache is still there. When we embrace our pain, lick our wounds, caress our scars,..... we become beautiful strength, adorable courage and mesmerizing triumph.

Thank you so much Rain! I was holding onto a prolonged heartache, and it felt like I was putting on a mask everyday, hiding behind fake smiles... I just needed a little lyrical therapy to help me sort it out.

The enormity of your pain must be
balanced out by many moments of joy, otherwise the you, U used to be
will never again truly smile...
Deep spill my dear.

Thank you so much Poe... You're right, it is important to find beauty as often as we can...

We have "cut many all for the greater good," we also should expect to willing or unwillingly hurt people, that's simply life. Yet as we finally gain survivor status, we can only hope to accidentally scratch, willing or unwillingly. That my friend, is learning the lesson our cut's much more injurious than most😊 Amazing portrayal of survival!!!
