My demon
My demon
I feel it creeping up on me,
This loss of my sanity.
Trapped inside my shattered mind,
Gone to seek, but do not find.
I travel down the darkened hall,
My back against a wooden wall.
I feel as though I'm being chased,
I turn to see that, which I'm faced.
But in the dark I cannot see,
This evil demon shadowing me.
My hair begins to stand on end,
I prepare, for self to fend.
I feel a breathing in the gloom,
Fetid, putrid, stench of doom.
I hear the beating of a heart,
But within, not apart.
I run headlong into a door,
Send me sprawling to the floor.
Heart beats louder in my ear,
I know this demon, very near.
I turn the knob and go inside,
Wishing I could run and hide.
I know I'll have to stand and fight,
I reach the switch and flip the light.
I look to see my haunting terror,
And see myself within the mirror.
I feel it creeping up on me,
This loss of my sanity.
Trapped inside my shattered mind,
Gone to seek, but do not find.
I travel down the darkened hall,
My back against a wooden wall.
I feel as though I'm being chased,
I turn to see that, which I'm faced.
But in the dark I cannot see,
This evil demon shadowing me.
My hair begins to stand on end,
I prepare, for self to fend.
I feel a breathing in the gloom,
Fetid, putrid, stench of doom.
I hear the beating of a heart,
But within, not apart.
I run headlong into a door,
Send me sprawling to the floor.
Heart beats louder in my ear,
I know this demon, very near.
I turn the knob and go inside,
Wishing I could run and hide.
I know I'll have to stand and fight,
I reach the switch and flip the light.
I look to see my haunting terror,
And see myself within the mirror.
