Heartbreaking Past

You think you moved on until you hear that one certain song.
The song that he dedicated to you just seems so long.
It doesn't seem to want to stop reminding you.
When your heart breaks what do you do?

You know he'd continue to lie.
It's been two years and you still cry.
You focus on the times you fought.
You try your hardest to stop the thoughts.

He walks in and breaks you so completely.
How can someone affect your life so immensely?  
He was your first love and you didn't get anything.
He took everything that you had and gave you nothing.  

How is that fair at all?
You're the one to fall.
He looked and just laughed.
He walked away without a scratch.

You're supposed to be with someone else, but you still think of him.
You sit there and think of all the possibilities, all the "Could have been".
What happened to the walls inside?
Why did you let this happen to you?  

You're not supposed to let that down.
It's supposed to be as high as the clouds.
Now you're terrified of the same thing happening.
You need to stop thinking love is so very terrifying.

You're just scared of getting hurt.
You're just scared of getting burnt.
You hurt yourself by thinking that way.
You leave them without a word to say.

You break two hearts over a fear.
You break yourself by causing tears.
Stop being scared and you might find yourself a beginning.
Stop having doubts and you might have your happy ending.
