The Ponder Games!! the haves -vs- the have nots *Age of Aquarius Challenge*

there is beauty in simplicity
uncomplicated ...even in its intricacy
but in today's society to simply BE
is a frowned upon rarity
but the ways of old,are coming round again
times are not just getting but been hard my friend
simple living will become more than a trend
accumulated wealth,will be of things you can't spend
now i won't go into stocks and dividends
because you can't take it with you,when this life ends
but will simply ask what do you treasure?
by who or what standard will your life be measured?
they say to whom much is given much is expected
a brother's keeper has been selected
yet alot we as society let go to waste
while hunger begs and pleads for a taste
the underbelly of pride raw red hide
is greed's bloodthirst,the devil inside
so egos will live beyond needs and means
in dire search of the finer things
after all isn't that the American dream?
to see who can collect the most meaningless things
for we are the orphaned offspring love once birth
yes we are the children of forgotten worth
in world where it seems love is deceased
it's no surprise next to go is peace

so i sit and ponder and truly take stock
and i wonder do the "haves" secretly envy and "have-nots"
because trust me as much as the "haves" may have
they still ain't got what the "have-nots" got
now see the "haves"concentrate on reaping
but the "have-nots" are forever sowing
paying close attention to the roots
knowing that's the key to keep on growing
the"haves" think solely of the harvest
so they pay little mind to the seeds
but the "have-nots"toiled and tilled
worked hard planting good deeds
and when up springs a flower
the "have-nots" attended to its needs
watered the flowers faithfully
and plucked away all the weeds
soon the "haves" took notice and
grew envious of the "have-nots"
realizing if they had paid closer attention
their life wouldn't be such sorry lot
if they had made better choices
and not forgotten their roots
or lost sight focusing
on trivial pursuits
now some will think
i'm referring to richest or poorest
no i'm referring to those who "have" chosen
to remain mentally and morally malnourished
those who "have" lost all capability
conscientiously they can't see
they'd be uplifting themselves
by uplifting all humanity
they "have" forgotten
what we are made of
