Haunting Melody (Revised)
The white prince
Slowly stepped out into the moonlight
Raised his coal-black nose to the air
And let out his melancholy melody
A melody so haunting,
So dark,
So deep,
I could feel it in my bones
The melody carried itself through
The black canopy of trees
His white fur
Glistened as much as the snow
In the moon’s bright glow
His eyes follow me
Dark pools of amber
With rivers of gold
The wind picked up
Sending his fur waving
In the cool breeze
We stared at each other
For a long time
I couldn’t turn away
From his piercing gaze
Whether out of fear
Or amazement
I did not know
I’m in a trance
And just like that
It broke
A soft melody rung out in the distance
And he disappears through the brush
I still hear his melody every once in awhile
And although years have past
I can still see
The pools of amber
And the rivers of gold
In the gusts of snow
Sweeping across the trees
My white prince
Slowly stepped out into the moonlight
Raised his coal-black nose to the air
And let out his melancholy melody
A melody so haunting,
So dark,
So deep,
I could feel it in my bones
The melody carried itself through
The black canopy of trees
His white fur
Glistened as much as the snow
In the moon’s bright glow
His eyes follow me
Dark pools of amber
With rivers of gold
The wind picked up
Sending his fur waving
In the cool breeze
We stared at each other
For a long time
I couldn’t turn away
From his piercing gaze
Whether out of fear
Or amazement
I did not know
I’m in a trance
And just like that
It broke
A soft melody rung out in the distance
And he disappears through the brush
I still hear his melody every once in awhile
And although years have past
I can still see
The pools of amber
And the rivers of gold
In the gusts of snow
Sweeping across the trees
My white prince
