divided we will not stand

political parties divide us
religion makes us afraid
apathy is killing us
batting fans at our faces in the shade

conservatives nose deep in tradition
this Bible driven life they've always known
but their hearts are growing stagnant
and the seeds of hate have been sown

we don't want your Bibles
we don't want your prayers
we should cast aside our differences
then maybe we would get somewhere

how can we hope to fight others
when we're divided on the inside?
while the world is erupting around us
we're arguing whether homos are wrong or right?

we're constantly fighting
religion, religion, its all the same
just different gods, different devils
stamped with different names

"those goddamn liberals
heads so far up their asses"
"those cotton pickin' conservatives
intellect slow as cold molasses"

I'm not the bad guy
and maybe neither are you
we all want the best
but what "best" is true?

its the Red Scare all over again
another epidemic of war and terror
history always repeats itself
could human idiocy be any clearer?

if ignorance were deadly
we'd all be stone cold
if hatred was true poison in our hearts
we'd never grow old

but the taste of bitterness
has gone stale and rotten
like an old maggot filled grapefruit
it should be disposed of and forgotten
