Timidity
Timidity takes time to disappear,
I block off left and right; but you look down;
As if to wish away that perplexed frown:
It greets me, when I say your way is clear
Confusion's unacceptable; You steer
Me far away from shyness; you won't drown
In any scarlet flush, that's bound to crown
Embarrassment, anxiety and fear,
And this will be discovered; when you lift
My face with your cupped palm, beneath my chin
To show me what will be is bound to be;
You brush away my shyness; it's the gift
You offer me, as soon as I begin
To understand and shed timidity.
I block off left and right; but you look down;
As if to wish away that perplexed frown:
It greets me, when I say your way is clear
Confusion's unacceptable; You steer
Me far away from shyness; you won't drown
In any scarlet flush, that's bound to crown
Embarrassment, anxiety and fear,
And this will be discovered; when you lift
My face with your cupped palm, beneath my chin
To show me what will be is bound to be;
You brush away my shyness; it's the gift
You offer me, as soon as I begin
To understand and shed timidity.
