Prince of Charming
Navigating through life
In a shroud of animosity,
Worn as a mask to hide
Contempt for authority;
Trying to play it off
As ambition.
Convinced that if
Something is said
Loud enough
And often enough
It is the truth.
A man of appetite
Stares at each sunrise
With cold desire
Behind a charming smile
And drooling eyes
He would have
The whole world
If he could…
Or would he?
He can’t.
And that
Drives the need
To devour
He gets what he wants
Then sets it on fire
To watch it dance
Against the void of night,
Fallen stars
Drifting away,
Crumbling slivers
Of floating embers
Reverse silhouettes
Twisting and screaming
Into oblivion,
Fading to ashes
While snapping
And crackling
Into silent stillness
And absolute nothing.
A hollow man
Swallows all
Until he is full
(Or you are left empty)
In a shroud of animosity,
Worn as a mask to hide
Contempt for authority;
Trying to play it off
As ambition.
Convinced that if
Something is said
Loud enough
And often enough
It is the truth.
A man of appetite
Stares at each sunrise
With cold desire
Behind a charming smile
And drooling eyes
He would have
The whole world
If he could…
Or would he?
He can’t.
And that
Drives the need
To devour
He gets what he wants
Then sets it on fire
To watch it dance
Against the void of night,
Fallen stars
Drifting away,
Crumbling slivers
Of floating embers
Reverse silhouettes
Twisting and screaming
Into oblivion,
Fading to ashes
While snapping
And crackling
Into silent stillness
And absolute nothing.
A hollow man
Swallows all
Until he is full
(Or you are left empty)
