What We See

We look at women daily
Crossing the street
A passing wave
A nod hello

What do we see?
A pretty beauty
A plain Jane
A sad girl
A lonely girl
A snob
A good mother
A working woman
A bitch

We never know the pain held inside
Deeds done when alone
A child left alone and cold
She was given to the streets
The system she was thrown in

Men as she grew took the place of a parents love
Love she thought she found was not within these men
Beautiful came from these men

Left alone
She tried and tried to overcome
The pain
The stress
The disappointment in herself
Sometimes it’s too much
She goes to work on the bus
Comes home and gathers the children
Sits in her home
Alone
Thinking of all that’s right
She sees only wrong
She walks down the hall
She has to end it all

The oldest first
She takes his life
She moves on to the next swift straight cuts to the little boys and girls necks
She reaches the youngest
She sees the innocence
Knows it will be corrupted
She has to end it
She takes the baby’s breath with a lingering kiss

She cleans them all dresses them and lines them against the far wall
She stands at their feet
She feels she has given the ultimate Mothers Love
Proud of her deed
She sleeps in peace

She wakes and leaves
You see her on the street
A head nod hello
A passing wave
She is pleasant, friendly enough
What you don’t know?
Her children bleed out on the living room floor
What do you see?
