Love Songs

I never tried to write a love song
That didn’t stab you in the heart
There’s always that transgression
That always happens in the dark
And weeping eyes and yelling voices
Tear the love apart
They say write what you know
And I know it all by heart
So I write those things I’ve seen
And felt within the dark
It’s not a happy ending
It’s always kind of stark
But that’s my kind of love song
It tears your soul apart
And who’s around in the end
And who survives all they have seen
It’s the one who’s standing up
And writing different things
I don’t need to write a love song
I know them all by heart
So leave me here alone to write my stories
Perhaps they won’t be dark
But I’ve been around…
