The Game
It’s a natural thing
To fall halfway in love
And hold yourself back just a little
So you don’t get hurt too bad when it ends
We’ve all done it before
After giving our all once before
And having to pick ourselves up
Off of the floor
Love is just a dangerous game
For the emotional are the halfway insane
Can’t ever get too comfortable it seems
Since the pieces keep moving and they’re never the same
I guess you can tell
I’ve spent my share of time down in hell
Been abused by love before
Been asked to use that door
So I hide my heart in my hands
And only share just a portion
Not really afraid just being normal
Cause the games always in motion
You can’t give it all away
Or you know in the end you’ll pay
The one who gives the least gets the most
It’s sad but it’s just that way
We’ve all done it once before
Had to pick our hearts up off the floor
And skulk out the door
To learn the new rules and hold back some more
To fall halfway in love
And hold yourself back just a little
So you don’t get hurt too bad when it ends
We’ve all done it before
After giving our all once before
And having to pick ourselves up
Off of the floor
Love is just a dangerous game
For the emotional are the halfway insane
Can’t ever get too comfortable it seems
Since the pieces keep moving and they’re never the same
I guess you can tell
I’ve spent my share of time down in hell
Been abused by love before

So I hide my heart in my hands
And only share just a portion
Not really afraid just being normal
Cause the games always in motion
You can’t give it all away
Or you know in the end you’ll pay
