Once Upon A Lifetime

Your words lace me like a neck adorned with pearls,
to that "once upon a dream" I find myself likening
the connection between you and I
and as I lay in your arms I can feel forever singing.

You make me feel like leaping from the ledge
and I can do so knowing I will fly
away to a quiet, magical place
where you and I will constantly exist, face to face.

You know I've lived the past few years
hidden away, so deep in every single one of my lies...
Labeled a user but simultaneously so used and abused
but you make me feel so brand new.

Every time you're close to me
I know that its time to let go and let change
come riding in with these hopeful new times
because finally it seems, that to be right now is better than my dreams.

I'm casting the past away, leaving it all behind
and for the first time, no more waiting,
I'm not hesitating, or losing anymore time
because I finally get to call someone mine.

We fit together so harmoniously, notes
of some lovely soft melody, drifting through the breeze on a sunny day.
So I'm finding lots of new ways to be
submersed in your verses every day.

Its pleasantly difficult to describe
the soft ache in my heart when I think of your face-
the feeling is tight but warm like sunlight flooding
the room of my heart in early morning light.

And I love how I get to wake up and see
these lovely hazel eyes that speak the right shade of green
through the blue of my disguise,
to say,  "I love you" as fear slowly dies.
