The Horrid Beast
The wish left unfulfilled never died
Slowly it manifested itself in the form of a horrifying sight
What have I done to sadden you?
I can no longer believe in myself
You must truly despise me to put me here
Deep within the heart and mind of the beast
I have no will or power to destroy
Yet you put me in chains as though I were a monster
You are quite a monster yourself
To put me in the midst of loathe, antipathy and disgust
What have I done, I cannot understand
As the common folk shy away in fear,
I cannot bear to look at my reflection
The people surround me
They will destroy what is different from them
I cower, I cannot stand
Strike after strike, I feel a sudden strength
Now I have truly become menacing
Why are they so surprised?
I thought I was no more than a beast
