he held her,
too close
his arms wrapped
around her,
his eyes moist with the
realization of what he already knew
but didn't want her to say
she very gently rested her finger tips
against his cheeks
her lips only inches
away
she said,
"nothing is permanent,
not the warmth of my hands,
nor the breath from my lips'
