Descent

I swear it wasn't always like this, for once,
I claimed the mind of a sane man

But madness came seeping in
powering my paranoia

Lofty thoughts of unreal dangers
Unseen specters, lurking, waiting
Nervous tensions, racing, beating
Waking dreams of countless horrors

Laughing when I should be crying
Hiding when I should be screaming
Begging when I should be fighting
Shaking when I should be seeking
Sweating when I should be planning
Swearing when I should be praying
Striking when I should be listening
Bleeding when I should be healing

Hear the voices? Hear them calling?
See the darkness? See me falling?

I've given in to infecting madness
Putrid mindrot, decaying sadness

A sickened mind obsessed with rhyme
A maggot feast in a short time

You hear my laughter, eyes thrown wide
and wisely chose to flee my side

Just leave me be in my mad hell
Forever more in which I dwell
